2017 20m Nationals – Narromine

Flying this competition was something that Matt had first suggested three years ago. The basis of The Plan was that Matt would fly the cruise, and I would climb – playing to our strengths. This worked gloriously well at times, most notably over a 160km chase phase where we caught a small gaggle on the last day. But it took us a few days of practicing to get to that point.

The competition started out on a low for us, landing in a field 10km short of Narromine during the first race. We gradually built back up from there, placing on the podium for half of the remaining six races. By the end, our score was still quite respectable, with some other results going our way during the competition. More importantly, we’re now better prepared if we give this competition another go in the future!
